Wu She Japanese Restaurant: Reverting the Rational Beauty

A Unique Design in New Taipei City

With the commercial development, the landscape of the city is gradually seized by fast food stores and low-quality identifications. Wu She Japanese Restaurant, designed by Shiho Chu, attempts to revert the rational beauty through the "Aesthetic Tranquility Revolution," something supposed to be endowed in streets.

Amidst the chaos of irregular and uneven old and new buildings, Wu She Japanese Restaurant stands as a testament to the essential beauty that the city has lost. Designed by Shiho Chu, this unique restaurant aims to bring back the rational beauty through its innovative design and aesthetic appeal.

One of the most remarkable aspects of the design is the integration of the landlord's living space on the upper floors without interfering with the guests on the ground and first floors. This presented a challenging task, but Chu and the design team successfully created a separate circulation for the landlord while maintaining a seamless experience for the restaurant guests.

The entrance of the restaurant features a traditional Japanese garden and a residence outer, creating a serene and inviting atmosphere. The inclusion of a functional "Sanmon" gate adds both practicality and cultural significance to the design. This unique approach sets Wu She Japanese Restaurant apart from others in the industry.

The realization of the design involved meticulous attention to detail. The Japanese garden in the entrance was carefully crafted to create a harmonious blend of nature and architecture. The surrounding community park was strategically incorporated, allowing guests to enjoy the greens of nature while dining at the restaurant.

Wu She Japanese Restaurant covers a site area of 322 square meters, with a floor area of 199 square meters. The project scale and floor area ratio reflect the careful planning and utilization of space to create a functional and aesthetically pleasing environment.

Located in New Taipei City, Taiwan, the project started in September 2015 and was completed in January 2016. Throughout the design process, Chu and the team conducted extensive research to address the chaotic street views of Taiwan. Their aim was to bring back the rational beauty and promote users' aesthetic level through the "Aesthetic Tranquility Revolution."

Wu She Japanese Restaurant has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2018. This prestigious award acknowledges the restaurant's creativity, resourcefulness, and contribution to improving the quality of life in the city.

Shiho Chu and the team at Dial Interior Design Co., Ltd. hold the copyrights for this remarkable design. Their dedication to creating unique and innovative spaces is evident in Wu She Japanese Restaurant, which stands as a testament to the power of design in transforming the cityscape.
